Our mission:
The Jackson Lewis Memorial Foundation is a true non for profit organization aimed at helping to raise awareness for and help combat suicide in kids 18 years and younger. This organization has been created in the memory of Jackson Lewis, who died by suicide in 2020, for kids like him that feel as though there is no other way to get help.
our 3 pillars
1.) Awareness
A person dies by suicide every 40 seconds. That is around 800,000 deaths per year. Every single one of them a tragedy and every single one of them preventable with the right access to resources. There is a worldwide stigma around mental health and while it has been improving in recent years, there is still much work to be done. Our campaign for awareness involves events and eventually clothing/apparel that help to spread our mission and continue breaking down the stigma. All profits of all of our sales are used towards the continuation of our mission.
2.) education
As our mission is to focus on kids with mental health issues, our outreach programs include speaking at many local schools as well as future programs within schools that we partner with to create a hands on and effective approach to these issues. This will be accomplished through speakers who have had first hand experience with suicide and or mental health complications and can relay this knowledge to other potentially struggling kids to get them the help that they need.
3.) Research
Research will be the final pillar that we work to achieve. As we gain traction as a foundation, our goal is to be able to provide funds to institutions that work to develop treatments for mental health complications leading to suicide. A scientific approach is a necessary inclusion as so much of this issue comes down to how the brain functions and knowing more about that can help us greatly in the fight to wipe out suicide.
